History

SMEs, which account for over 90% of all enterprises in Taiwan, play a very important role in the growth of Taiwan’s economy. However, a lack of financial management knowledge combined with an unfavorable financial structure often result in small businesses facing challenges. In this context, in 1979, seven financial institutions, including Bank of Taiwan, Land Bank of Taiwan, Taiwan Cooperative Bank, First Commercial Bank, Hua Nan Commercial Bank, Chang Hwa Bank, and Taiwan Business Bank, provided funds to establish the “Taiwan Small & Medium Enterprise Counseling Foundation (Taiwan SMECF)” to help SMEs in difficulty to obtain funding from financial institutions. The Foundation provides comprehensive consulting services to assist SMEs in obtaining financing. To implement counseling services, the Foundation has expanded its services from consulting to training professionals and issuing financial management. The Foundation follows the philosophy “enthusiasm, professionalism, and credibility” to improve the competitiveness of SMEs.
